Hydrafacial Pre & Post Care Instructions

Hydrafacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, painless extractions, and hydration in one no-downtime treatment. A little preparation helps reduce irritation and keeps your skin barrier calm.

Quick note

Most patients notice an immediate glow. Mild redness, tightness, or sensitivity can happen and usually resolves within 24 to 72 hours.

Before your Hydrafacial

  • Avoid medium or deep chemical peels and laser resurfacing unless approved by your provider.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least 72 hours.
  • Pause retinol, tretinoin, adapalene, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, exfoliating scrubs, and prescription topical acne medications for 48 hours unless directed otherwise.
  • Avoid neurotoxins or dermal fillers for 7 to 10 days before your Hydrafacial. Injectables may often be performed immediately after your facial when appropriate.

Day of treatment

  • Arrive with clean skin and avoid heavy makeup.
  • Shave 24 hours prior if needed.
  • Tell us about medication changes, recent antibiotics, sunburn, windburn, or unusual skin sensitivity.

After your Hydrafacial

  • Avoid makeup if possible for the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous workouts, hot tubs, saunas, steam, facial waxing, retinol, and exfoliating acids for 24 hours.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF 40 or higher daily for at least 48 hours.
  • Keep your routine gentle and hydrating while your skin is more sensitive.

Contact us

  • Call or text if redness, sensitivity, burning, or irritation feels unusual or does not begin improving.
  • Message us before your appointment if you are unsure whether to pause a product or medication.
