Laser Facial Pre & Post Care Instructions

A laser facial delivers controlled energy to support pigment response and collagen stimulation. Stable, protected skin helps make treatment safer and more predictable.

Quick note

Downtime is minimal for most patients. Mild redness, warmth, or slight swelling can happen and usually resolves within several hours.

1 to 2 weeks before treatment

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products.
  • Wear SPF 30 or higher daily.
  • Avoid waxing or threading in the treatment area.
  • Tell us if you have recent sun exposure, a sunburn, or skin irritation.

5 to 7 days before treatment

  • Pause retinoids unless instructed otherwise.
  • Avoid glycolic, salicylic, or lactic acids.
  • Avoid harsh exfoliating scrubs and new active skincare products.
  • Keep your skin calm, hydrated, and balanced.

Day of treatment

  • Avoid heavy exercise that causes excessive flushing.
  • Arrive with clean skin and no makeup, lotions, or oils.
  • Your provider will review your skin and choose settings based on your goals and candidacy.

After your laser facial

  • Avoid direct sun, heavy exercise, hot showers, saunas, and steam for the first 24 hours.
  • Use a gentle cleanser, simple hydrating moisturizer, and SPF 30+ if going outdoors.
  • Avoid retinoids, strong acids, and aggressive exfoliation for 48 to 72 hours or until cleared.
  • Contact us if redness, swelling, or sensitivity feels unusual or does not improve.
